Werewolves!
To keep up with the constant flow of Blu-ray, DVD, and theatrical re-release titles, Universal Pictures required a flexible, single-page format that could be refreshed and reused with each wave of new releases. Special features—often never-before-seen extras—varied by title and demanded a design that could adapt whether or not they were included. A CMS couldn't deliver the level of visual control required, budget and timelines constraints suggested the solution had to be simple enough for a designer/developer duo to update quickly with minimal hassle.
The solution was an easy-to-modify template that required little change to the base code. The site showcased videos, exclusive product features, and film information. Modular flexibility allowed for layout additions for special promotional features.
Custom graphics (and slight UI shifts) for each movie title were prepared by visual design using whatever assets were available. The official DVD/Blu-ray box art was often still in the approval process even after the microsite's scheduled launch. To get around this took some creative maneuvering (and photoshopping) to adequately capture the visual tone, excitement, and overall brand of each film.
