Haunted Homes

The Sci Fi Channel Game Center was a sister site to scifi.com, featuring a collection of word, puzzle, card, and action games. Players could create profiles, play solo, and connect with fellow gamers through head-to-head challenges and leaderboard competitions in a growing online community.
Genre Disconnect
At launch, the Game Center featured basic, out-of-the-box games with no connection to the Sci Fi Network or its programming. Titles like Solitaire and Sudoku were bare-bones and generic, offering nothing relevant to the genre. Without a thematic tie-in, the experience felt flat and underwhelming for loyal fans who expected an immersive, science fiction–driven environment.
Narrative Reskin
Sci Fi Channel shows and popular characters were used as reskin material for the preexisting games. By reimagining games within new narrative contexts, these once-generic titles were transformed into genre-specific experiences aligned with the network. This required careful and creative solutions that left the original code unaltered (keeping development costs down) while ensuring the new content functioned logically within the existing game mechanics.
Sci Fi Game Collection
The end product was a fully branded Sci Fi Channel gaming library, with fan-favorite shows thoughtfully integrated into refreshed, genre-specific titles. The content finally aligned with the network and, as an added bonus, extended its IP into interactive media.
Note: The Sci Fi Channel has since rebranded as SYFY.
